Introduction to Yagua

Yagua guides for installing the app, converting and compressing images, working with metadata and processing files in batches.

Reference edition 2.0.0. Version 2.0.0 is a pre-release for Windows and Linux, available by manual download. Some screenshots come from an earlier development edition and may show different controls; their values are examples. Review your package’s release notes and saving options before processing.

How to use these guides

Start with Getting started in the order shown in the navigation. Then open the guide for the tool you need. Worked examples combine several tools to complete a task.

These English guides use the app’s English control names. To follow them, open Settings, select English, and click Apply. This saves your preferences and restarts the app. Theme names, filenames, and code examples keep their original spelling.

What this edition covers

Yagua 2.0.0 is available as a pre-release for Windows and Linux. The latest stable release remains v1.1.2. This edition includes batch palettes and new Canvas options; some guide screenshots come from an earlier development edition. Read the package notes and check the options available in your installation.

These guides cover the desktop app. Yagua is not a layer editor, photo management system, or web service. It has no manual brush retouching for background removal and no document editor to reconstruct a page layout after OCR.

Before you start

Use copies while learning. Batch Rename changes filenames in their original folder, and EXIF Metadata → Edit can overwrite the selected image. Each guide explains where its results are saved.

Most processing is local. OCR and Remove Background use models that may download on first use. Update checks also need a connection.
